Did you know that the UOG Endowment Foundation supports more UOG programs than just scholarships? You can donate today to support the Center for Island Sustainability (CIS).

CIS is one of the leading organizations on Guam committed to promoting and researching sustainable ideas and practice on our island. Supporting CIS is supporting reforestation initiatives, environmental research projects, eco-conscious advocacy, and more! The Center is the focal Institute at the University of Guam for adapting and modeling sustainable technologies that meet the needs of island communities in the broader areas of the environment, economy, society, and education.

In honor of the week-long Conference on Island Sustainability (which CIS hosts and the UOG Endowment Foundation is proud to partner with them on), donate today to support the work they are doing across Guam and the region. And don't forget that many of the conference days have events which are open to the public. See https://www.uog.edu/cis2019/ for more information on the conference, and download a full conference agenda.

Jon Alan Anderson dedicated decades of his life to bettering the lives of the people of Guam through the development and improvement of the media landscape on our island.

Jon came to Guam in the 1970s and would become the Vice President and General Manager of Pacific Telestations Inc, also known as KUAM TV and Radio. Jon would then move on to become a founding partner of Guam’s first talk radio station: K-57 Radio Inc., which would become the Sorensen Media Group. As the beloved host of the Breakfast Show on K57 for nearly two decades, Jon brought a balanced view and voice to the voiceless—entertaining and informing everyone from CEOs, Politicians, Business Owners and Teachers, to every Guamanian.

Jon was known for his kindness, honesty, and generosity. He was a wonderful employer, colleague and was compassionate to the struggles of the everyday man. Jon is survived by his wife Mahie, their children and grandchildren. His contributions, dedication and legacy will live on through those he helped, informed, mentored and loved.

His family has decided to remember Jon by creating a scholarship in his name to support future journalists. Family, friends, and colleagues who would like to contribute to this scholarship in his memory may do so here.

The UOG Endowment Foundation offers our sincere condolences, and thanks the Anderson family for their generosity.

The University of Guam is the primary higher education institution for not just the island of Guam, but the entire Micronesian region. UOG students of today go on to be business owners, leaders, teachers, and nurses that make our community strong tomorrow. But between rising cost of living and budget cuts, it is only becoming more difficult for students to afford the quality education they deserve. The UOG Endowment Foundation seeks to help bridge that gap by providing the necessary financial support for students pursuing a degree.

That is why we are asking for your support this holiday season during our annual "G is for Giving" campaign. Last year, this campaign raised over $21,000 for student scholarships. This year, we set a goal to increase that amount to $25,000 and expand beyond scholarships to include additional programs and student support services.

Every act of generosity counts, and it means even more when we give together. Your contribution will help future students on their path to success. Think about giving monthly for a more sustainable way to support.

Donations can be made until the end of the campaign on December 31, 2018.

Your gift should go to support the schools and programs you care most about. In the "Notes" section on the next page, please designate a college/school or program fund that you would like your donation to support:

CLASS - College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences
