Bernadita Taitano Carbullido Scholarship

Supporting Future Teachers of Guam

Inspired by a Legacy of Education

For the Carbullido family, education has always been more than opportunity — it has been a guiding value rooted in family experience and community responsibility.

The Bernadita Taitano Carbullido Scholarship supports two opportunities for elementary education majors at UOG: one for peer mentors, and one for student teachers completing their final stage of classroom preparation.

Bernadita was part of the first group of young women to attend The Territorial College of Guam. The experience deepened her conviction that education was essential — a belief she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

An education is an open mind.

Four generations of the Carbullido family have earned college degrees. Among them were Antonio Carbullido and his brother Baltazar, whose contributions to education on Guam were recognized through the naming of B.P. Carbullido Elementary School in Barrigada.

Feeding the Legacy Forward

For Bernadita’s daughter, Lisa Carbullido Henderson, CPA, the scholarship was a natural extension of her mother’s values.

“Mom was with the first group of young ladies to attend The Territorial College. Education was part of her core values, and creating this scholarship was a way to feed that forward.”
